AI-Knowledge Based Systems at BHP CPD
نویسنده
چکیده
A surface level expert system has been developed to judge the feasibility of automating the design of new nonstandard product routings. The main goal in this domain is to design or plan an appropriate sequence of processing units to be used in the manufacture of non-standard products. Each product order has associated with it a description of the desired steel product based on a range of mechanical and metallurgical features such as width, thickness, surface finish, hardness, coating type, and so on.

effective industrial exploitation of current and future AI research. These barriers can only be removed by people who are working at the scientific forefront in AI and know potential industrial needs. The Knowledge Processing Laboratory’s research and development concentrates in the following areas: (1) natural language interfaces to knowledge-based systems and databases; (2) theoretical and ex...
متن کاملContinuing professional development training needs of medical laboratory personnel in Botswana
BACKGROUND Laboratory professionals are expected to maintain their knowledge on the most recent advances in laboratory testing and continuing professional development (CPD) programs can address this expectation. In developing countries, accessing CPD programs is a major challenge for laboratory personnel, partly due to their limited availability. An assessment was conducted among clinical labor...
متن کاملINTEGRATING CASE-BASED REASONING, KNOWLEDGE-BASED APPROACH AND TSP ALGORITHM FOR MINIMUM TOUR FINDING
Imagine you have traveled to an unfamiliar city. Before you start your daily tour around the city, you need to know a good route. In Network Theory (NT), this is the traveling salesman problem (TSP). A dynamic programming algorithm is often used for solving this problem. However, when the road network of the city is very complicated and dense, which is usually the case, it will take too long fo...
متن کاملKnowledge Engineering Support for Software Requirements, Architectures and Components
The term Artificial Intelligence (AI) was coined at Dartmouth in 1958 and nearly ten years later the term Software Engineering (SE) was coined at the same place in 1968. AI can be defined as “the study of how to make computers do things at which, at the moment, people are better” (AmI, 2008). Knowledge is gained from experience and highly related to all living things and Engineering is a human ...
متن کاملA Knowledge System that Integrates Heterogeneous Software for a Design Application
We have implemented a knowledge system that integrates the many computational programs (technology codes) Boeing aerospace vehicle designers use, thereby expediting design analysis. Because this system separates facts about attributes of the current set of technology codes from general knowledge about running the codes, those who maintain the system can keep it continuously up to date at low co...
